6th AugustMarvel has hired a new writer, Chris McCoy, for the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy. McCoy has been asked to rewrite the originally proposed script written by Nicole Perlman.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be the first non-sequel movie released by Marvel since The Avengers earlier this year, and is expected to feature Groot, Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, and Rocket Raccoon.
It is also worth noting that the Guardians do come into quite a bit of contact with Thanos in the comics, which has resulted in some speculation that the clip of Thanos at the end of The Avengers movie may not have been intended for the sequel to said film, but may in fact be intended to hint at the primary villain in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The anticipated release date for the film is August 1, 2014.
