what are some good sites to look at for disney news?

For just overall news I’m assuming?
- Rotoscopers - These guys aren’t Disney specific, but they cover Disney quite a bit, and in general just offer a great variety with what news they offer.
- Disney Parks Blog - This is Disney run, and it’s good for construction updates and photos for both Disneyland and Disney World
- Mice Chat - More general and widespread Disney news (also good for the international parks).
Those are probably the three I would recommend the most as they tend to be more fact based, as well as quick with news.
Let me know if that wasn’t at all remotely helpful!

22nd AprilOn May 17th, Mystic Manor, a high-tech dark ride, will officially open as the center attraction in the newly developed Mystic Point in Disneyland Hong Kong.
Mystic Point is one of the three new land expansions the park has been developing over the past four years, and has been described as a site that is located in the middle of a dense forest riddled with supernatural and magical forces. Mystic Manor serves as the home to Lord Henry Mystic, a member of the Society for Adventurers and Explorers, and his monkey Albert.
The aged explorer owns a variety of exotic artifacts, including an enchanted music box that Albert opens at the start of the ride, causing all of the artifacts in the house to come to life. Below is a link to a video featuring the full ride through for Mystic Manor.
Technical aspects of the attraction include a trackless ride system, advanced Audio-Animatronic figures, and a stunning repertoire of other visual affects.
Note: Mystic Manor is not intended to be a version of The Haunted Mansion.

Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” Commences Principal Photography In Preparation for April 4, 2014 Film Release
BURBANK, Calif. (April 8, 2013) – Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release, “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated release, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” has commenced in Los Angeles, Calif., with production also including locations in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C. Directing the film is the team of Anthony and Joe Russo (“Welcome to Collinwood”) from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The First Avenger”). Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” returns Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America, along with Scarlett Johansson (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury. In addition, film icon Robert Redford has joined the all-star cast as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release in the U.S. on April 4, 2014.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Black Swan”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker,” “Million Dollar Baby”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (“Death Warrior”) as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Hunger Games”) as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp (“The Ring 2,” “Revenge”) as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Thor”) as Agent Jasper Sitwell.
Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch (“Elysium,” “District 9”), production designer Peter Wenham (“21 Jump Street,” “Fast Five”), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. (“Star Wars: Episode 7,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (“The Hunger Games,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”).
Marvel Studios’ upcoming release schedule includes “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013, and “Thor: The Dark World” on November 8, 2013. The studio most recently produced the critically acclaimed “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which set the all-time, domestic 3-day weekend box office record at $207.4 million. The film, which shattered both domestic and international box office records, is Disney’s highest-grossing global and domestic release of all time and marks the studio’s fifth film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide.
In the summer of 2011, Marvel successfully launched two new franchises with “Thor,” starring Chris Hemsworth, and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” starring Chris Evans. Both films opened #1 at the box office and have grossed over $800 million worldwide combined. In 2010 “Iron Man 2,” starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury took the #1 spot in its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million.
In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero’s powerful armor and stars alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, Shaun Toub and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008, and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk,” marking its second number one opener of that summer.

It is not know how much, if any, the remake will follow the original story line.

3rd AprilDisney has announced they will be shutting down LucasArts, a company that has designed and released several Star Wars and Adventure themed video games (Grim Fandango, Rebel Assault, Super Star Wars, The Secret of Monkey Island, Rogue Squadron, and Maniac Mansion). LucasArts was most active in the 1990’s, however, production has remained fairly quite in recent years.
The company did release the following statement regarding their closure: “After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games…”
Disney bought LucasFilms in October of last year for $4 billion.

have u ever done the college program?

Great question - although I apologize to my followers as this isn’t exactly a news update. But I actually haven’t done the college program as of yet, however, I have been accepted for the Fall 2013 program at Walt Disney World!
Hopefully come August I’ll be a bit more qualified to answer that in depth. In the mean time, if you’re interested in finding out more about the program, I encourage you to sort of root around tumblr, as there are a lot of great DCP blogs out there!
I hope that was vaguely helpful!

Do you know anything about this 20,000 Leagues deal?

Hello anon! I unfortunately only know a bit about the potential remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, however I will do some research and digging around to see if I can uncover any additional or more substantial information.
But, what I do know, is that Disney has not actually green lighted the project yet, so there’s no official word as to when production would start or any anticipated release date. It has been mentioned as of late (which is, I suspect, why you’re asking) that the Australian government has offered a pretty hefty incentive of over $20 million to encourage Disney to film in the country. But again, Disney hasn’t actually announced that they will be doing a remake, so that might just be wishful thinking on Australia’s part.
Like I said, I’ll do some digging and hopefully I’ll be able to do an update with a bit more info later down the line!
Thank you for your question!

27th FebruaryEarly this week it was announced by John Tsang (Hong Hong Financial Secretary) that Disneyland Hong Kong would be the first Disney Park to receive a Marvel themed area.
It has yet to be reveled whether or not the Marvel expansion will be an entire land within the park, or if it will just remain a small area for character meet and greets, however it will be the first Disney park to make use of Disney’s 2009 acquisition of Marvel.
No mention of a Marvel themed area has yet been suggested for the original Disneyland Park. In addition, due to an agreement with Universal Orlando, Walt Disney World will not be able to feature Marvel characters in any of its six parks.
